RULES REGARDING THE ADMISSION TEST FOR M.SC. COURSE IN ZOOLOGY (2013) SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON 18.08.2013
The examinee will be allowed to enter in the Examination hall at 11:20 AM and a time span of one hour (12:00 A.M. – 1:00 PM) will be allowed to attempt 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the provided Question-Answer Booklet. No examinee will be allowed to sit for the examination 15 minutes after the start of the examination.
Examinee should carry duly filled-up Admit cards (two in number) affixed with stamp sized photographs and any one of the following photo identity cards : Voter ID card/ Driving license/ Passport/ PAN card/ ID card of the college last attended.
Put √ mark beside the correct answer in the appropriate box only.
Each correct answer will be credited with 2 marks.
For each incorrect attempt and/or multiple attempt 1(one) mark will be deducted from the aggregate.
Making no attempt will lead to zero credit.
Use blue / black ink pen for answering.
Do not tamper the score box by any means; if tampered, the examination script will be cancelled.
If any problem arises during the examination, report immediately to the invigilator.
Do not carry any electronic gadget (calculator, mobile phone, laptop, i-pad, camera, etc.), papers (other than admit card and identity card) and clip-board inside the examination hall.

Questions (MCQ) and a short essay (in 500 words in the provided Question-Answer Booklet.
No examinee will be allowed to sit for the examination 15 minutes after the start of the examination. Examinee should carry duly filled-up Admit cards (two in number) affixed with stamp sized photographs and any one of the following photo identity cards : Voter ID card/ Driving license/ Passport/ PAN card/ ID card of the college last attended.

The examinee will be allowed to enter in the Examination hall at 1:30 PM and a time span of one hour (2:00 P.M. – 3:00 PM) will be allowed to attempt 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the provided Question-Answer Booklet. No examinee will be allowed to sit for the examination 15 minutes after the start of the examination.
Examinee should carry duly filled-up Admit cards (two in number) affixed with stamp sized photographs and any one of the following photo identity cards : Voter ID card/ Driving license/ Passport/ PAN card/ ID card of the college last attended.
Put √ mark beside the correct answer in the appropriate box only.

Counselling and Admission for Vacant Seats (If Any)
Applications for Provisional Admission to the First Year M.Sc. in Zoology/ First Semester M.A. in English and Urdu 2013 will be received online.
Online Application will start from 18/07/2013 to 29/07/2013.
Candidature of a candidate will be outright cancelled (at any stage) if the data given in on-line application do not match with original testimonials.
The students passing B.Sc. Honours in Zoology (10+2+3) / B.A. Honours in English / Urdu (10+2+3) in the year 2013 can apply for admission in respective Post Graduate Courses provided other ‘Eligibility Criteria for Application’ are fulfilled.
The candidates are requested to get the Print out of the filled in Application Form along with Admit Card and Money Receipts, after online submission of the application. Three recent Stamp-size Photos (Self Attested) are to be affixed at the specified space in the Printout of filled in Application Form and Admit Card which may be required at the time of Admission Test & Counselling Processes.
Admission will be made strictly on basis of Merit and Attendance of the Candidate on the date and time of the Counselling of the respective subject is mandatory.
Beware of any Tout or other Agents. For any information regarding admission contact College Office / Admission Committee only. Any sort of cash should be deposited at Bank only. Interference of any third party is not allowed..
Application Fees: Rs. 200.00 for the subject applied for.
Application Fees are to be submitted at any of the following branches of IDBI Bank (Monday – Friday : 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
on producing the Print out of the Money Receipt in triplicate generated during online-submission and the candidates copy of Money Receipt are to be endorsed by bank at the time of submission of the Application Fees. Candidates with endorsed Money Receipt will only be considered in the Admission Process.

Other University students securing minimum 60% marks in the Honours subject and passed Examination in 2013 will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged (PC) categories.
For the students who passed Honours Examination in 2013 from Calcutta University with minimum 50% marks in Honours subject will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged categories.
For SC & ST candidates who have passed from the University of Calcutta or from Other Universities with a minimum of 40% marks in Honours Subject (Qualifying Marks) will be eligible to apply.
60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC and ST categories.
Rest 40% seats will be filled up from the candidates selected through Admission test.
The Admission Test will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 35 MCQ questions, each having 2 marks ( for every incorrect attempt and/or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted ) and a short essay (in 500 words) of 30 marks. Candidates who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test.
In case of a tie, University Honours marks will be considered for placing the students in the upper level.
Total approved seat for M. A. in English is 20 (14 general + 4 SC+ 1 ST + 1 PC). If there is no PC applicant for 60% category the seat will be filled up from PC candidates from 40% category. If there is no PC applicant, the seat will be treated as a General seat and will be filled up from 60% category.
60% of 14 General category seats = 08 seats and 1 seat from Physically Challenged candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of CU students.
40% of 14 General category seats = 6 seats ( no quota for Physically Challenged) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject for General Category.
Similarly 60% of SC category seats = 2 seats are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining ( 40% of 6 seats) 2 seats will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
For ST Categories 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list. If there is no applicant in 60% category the seat will be filled up from 40% category on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the MCQ Examination & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
Only those candidates who have submitted application form and not selected in the merit list of 60% category will be allowed to appear in the Admission Test.
If a student cancels his/her admission, the vacancy will be filled up from the waiting list of respective category.

Other University students securing minimum 45% marks in the Honours subject and passed Examination in 2013 will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged (PC) categories.
For the students who passed Honours Examination in 2013 from Calcutta University with minimum 45% marks in Honours subject will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged categories.
For SC & ST candidates who have passed from the University of Calcutta or from Other Universities with a minimum of 45% marks in Honours Subject (Qualifying Marks) will be eligible to apply.
60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC and ST categories.
Rest 40% seats will be filled up from the candidates selected through Admission Test in General, SC and ST categories..
The Admission Test will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 50 MCQ questions, each having 2 mark ( for 4 incorrect attempts and/or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted ). 60% of 20 General category seats = 12 seats and 1 seat from Physically Challenged candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of CU students.
40% of 20 General category seats = 8 seats ( no quota for Physically Challenged) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject for General Category.
Similarly 60% of SC category seats = 4 seats are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining ( 40% of 6 seats) 3 seats will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
For ST Categories 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list and remaining 1 seat will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
Only those candidates who have submitted application form and not selected in the merit list of 60% category will be allowed to appear in the Admission Test.

Other University students securing minimum 60% marks in the Honours subject and passed Examination in 2013 will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged (PC) categories.
For the students who passed Honours Examination in 2013 from Calcutta University with minimum 55% marks in Honours subject will be eligible to apply in General and Physically Challenged categories.
For SC & ST candidates who have passed from the University of Calcutta or from Other Universities with a minimum of 45% marks in Honours Subject (Qualifying Marks) will be eligible to apply.
60% of the approved seats will be filled up directly on the basis of merit from Calcutta University students in General, PC, SC and ST categories.
Rest 40% seats will be filled up from the candidates selected through Admission test.
The Admission Test (MCQ type) will be of one hour duration having full marks 100 containing 50 questions, each having 2 marks ( for each incorrect attempt and/or multiple attempts 1 mark will be deducted). Candidates who have applied for 60% category but have not been selected in the merit list will have to sit for the Admission test.

Total approved seat for M. Sc. in Zoology is 25 (16 general + 6 SC+ 2 ST + 1 PC). If there is no PC applicant for 60% category the seat will be filled up from PC candidates from 40% category. If there is no PC applicant, the seat will be treated as General seat and will be filled up from 60% category.
60% of 16 General category seats = 09 seats and 1 seat from Physically Challenged candidates are for direct admission from the General category merit list of C.U. students.
40% of 16 General category seats = 7 seats (no quota for Physically Challenged) will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission Test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject for General Category.
Similarly 60% of 6 seats SC category seats = 4 seats are for direct admission from the merit list of CU students for SC category and remaining ( 40% of 6 seats) 2 seats will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the Admission test & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
For ST Categories 1 seat will be filled up directly from the merit list and remaining 1 seat will be filled up on the basis of the sum of marks obtained in the MCQ Examination & percentage of University exam score in Honours subject.
